At Flex, our people make all the difference, and Jacob Wise is a perfect example of that.
With a background in creative direction, project management, and lighting design, Jacob brings a unique blend of technical know-how and customer-first thinking to his role. We asked him a few questions about his favorite live event moments, what sets Flex apart, and where he sees the industry heading.
His answers are thoughtful, a little funny, and full of the passion he brings to helping customers every day.

1. What is your favorite live event memory and why?
One time, a Producer asked how old I was during a show—I told him I was 19. He looked at me and said, “Wow, you’re really going to go far.” That moment stuck with me. It was simple, but meant a lot.
2. If you could see any show of any performer (living or passed), who would it be and why? (BONUS: Where would you want to see them?)
Ed Sheeran at Red Rocks. Great music, cool venue, and I think it’d just be a fun show to see live.
3. What is the best part of your job and why?
Hands down, the best part of my job is working with our customers—especially during the implementation phase. I love coaching them through the setup and seeing those “aha!” moments when everything finally clicks. It’s like watching someone realize they’ve been using a fork to eat soup and now they’ve found the spoon. I also get a kick out of hearing things like, “Wait, that’s so much easier than what we were using before!” Music to my ears.
4. What sets Flex apart from its competition?
Definitely our customer service and company culture. We’re real people who actually care—and it shows.
5. What is one prediction you have for the future of the industry?
I think AI’s going to sneak its way into live events more and more. It’s probably already helping write slide content, but I’d love to see it show up in tools like grandMA—imagine just asking it to build your color presets. Who knows, maybe even Flex will get an AI boost someday.
Before joining Flex, Jacob wore a lot of hats—Creative Director, Project Manager, and Lighting Designer. These days, he loves working directly with customers to sort out configuration changes and show just how flexible Flex really is. Jacob’s naturally curious and always thinking like a customer—he’s not one to say we can’t, but instead looks for creative ways to make things happen.
