Post-Awards Winner Spotlight: Jesse Andler, Scheduling Star

Scheduling is one of the most critical and complex roles in live events. It sits at the intersection of operations, crews, and timelines. When scheduling is done well, the day goes smoothly. When it is not, the entire production feels the strain. Jesse Andler’s recognition as Scheduling Star reflects the precision and care required to do this role well. But for Jesse, the award is more about the people behind it.

Being chosen by peers carries a different level of meaning. “A huge thank you to Flex Rental Solutions for this honor… my colleagues at Allied Productions & Sales and Allied Audio Services, my peers, and all the fellow nominees. To have been chosen by the people I work alongside every day means the world to me.”

Live events are not easy. Long hours, constant changes, and high pressure environments are part of the job. Jesse’s advice to those starting out is grounded in that reality. “If you truly have a passion for this work, keep at it. This industry can be demanding and difficult… The people who push through and stay focused on that passion are the ones who succeed.”

Whether it is your crew, your team, or your network, having the right support system makes all the difference. “Most importantly, find your people. This industry offers a lot of support, so find your system and be prepared to offer that same support in return.”

For those entering the industry on the technical side, Jesse emphasizes the importance of doing the work early. “Get on as many labor lists as possible, take every training class or seminar you can find, read the manuals, and find ways to get hands-on time with the gear. Be prepared to take the jobs you might think are ‘below’ you. Show up on time and work hard.”

Technical skills get you in the door, but how you treat people is what builds a career in this industry. “I lead with time, care, respect, and empathy,” said Jesse. “I make it a priority to really get to know my contractors and connect with those on my list on a personal level.” That human-first approach is what turns a list of names into a reliable, high-performing network

Schedulers like Jesse are the reason crews show up confident and productions run on time. Know someone who brings that same energy to their work? Stay tuned for next year’s Flex Awards.
